How do you get rid of dark spots on your face?

My boyfriend is black, on his cheek bones he has dark spots of skin like he applied a dark blush on his face. How would you suggust removing or minimizing that? He's tried facial creams but they don't work. I saw on Tyra that there is something like bleaching stuff that is suppose to even out your face but I don't know if that's true. Any help would be great.How do you get rid of dark spots on your face?
Don't use cheap products that will not show you long term affects until it is too late. A bit more expensive, but my wife swears by Nuskin, which I know little about, but again, she swears by it.
