I used to have very bad acne on my chin area and it turned to a giant scab on my chin and lasted for about 2-3 months because i kept on ripping it open somehow. My acne is cleared up but there still remains a darkened spot where the acne used to be. Are there any ways to lessen the appearance or just completely get rid ot them? How to get rid or lessen the appearance of dark spots after pimples?
These dark spots are actually scars and bruising. Since you had the scab for so long and kept picking at it, this caused scarring. You have damaged this part of your skin. But hope still remains for you kiddo. First of all, the first answer is so correct about exfoliation. By exfoliating your skin, this sloughs off bad skin cells, (Or dead cells if you prefer) and makes way for fresh, new cells. Also you need to moisturize your face as well. I can't stress that enough. But you must be careful with what type of moisturizer you use. Make sure that it is an oil free cream and better yet a moisturizer for acne prone skin. You also need to cleanse your face with an acne wash and scrub at least twice per day. Lay off of the make up if you use it, just until your face has healed. Oxygen does wonders for skin. And by saying that, make up causes a small barrier for proper oxygenation of the pores. Keep your hands off of your face. The oils and bacteria on your hands clog pores and cause acne. Before you wash your face and exfoliate it, wash your hands. Also stop picking at any future breakouts. The scab was there for a reason in the beginning. Scabs actually hold in healing oils in wounds. If you keep picking at it, it will take longer for a wound to heal. (Acne is considered wounding) You also must remember that over washing and over exfoliation causes acne to. When you do it too much, this causes irritation of the skin, and thus your pores are doubling up on it's oil's and there you have clogged pores and acne appears. So no more than twice a day with the cleansing. I suggest morning and right before bed. Also make sure that you change your pillow case every other night. well i use concealer its a girls best friend i dont leave the house without it i would reccomend neutrogena 3 in 1 concealer its eye cream plus concealer and spf15 its great for dark circles and blemishes and acne you can buy it at any drug store or walmart or somewhere like that
exfoliate!!! or better yet retin-a
it works wonder for me but takes several months
try cocoa butter or Vitamin E pills. (open them and squeeze the juice out onto the scar.) Vitamin e is REALLY good for scars.
I have scars as well, try Proactiv's skin lightner. You put it on the dark spots and over a short time you will see a difference. Also you can try microdermabrasion or if it's really bad a chemical peel (but both cost and you should see your dermatologist before hand) that will reduce your scars and make your pores smaller
