What's the difference between freckles , sun spots and liver spots , are they all the same thing ?

Not really. They can look alike because they are all brown. Freckles can be genetic or can be caused by sun damage. Sun spots are usually larger in size and are caused by sun damage. Liver spots are called age spots and come from the natural process of aging.

Some of these spots, like sun spots and age spots, are close to the surface of the skin and can be removed with IPL (intense pulsed light therapy). The deeper melasma (from hormones) and genetic freckles can be lightened with fading creams such as prescription Triluma or 4% hydroquinone. Some over the counter lightening agents work too, but take a longer period of time to fade. A good sunscreen should always be worn to prevent spots from developing.
